What services does Australian Books Publisher offer?

We provide full-service book publishing for Australian authors, covering ghostwriting, editing and proofreading, cover design, interior formatting, ISBN and copyright registration, printing and global distribution, audiobook production, and book marketing. Authors do not need every service - many come to us needing just one piece, and the project is scoped to exactly what the book needs.

Do I keep full ownership and rights to my book?

Yes, 100%. Authors own the ISBN (registered in their name through Thorpe-Bowker), the cover design, the formatted files, and all content and royalties. Some publishing companies register the ISBN under their own name, which gives them ongoing control over the book - Australian Books Publisher never does that.

How much does it cost to publish a book?

Every project is different, so fixed prices are not published - word count, genre, illustration needs, and the level of editing required all affect cost. A detailed, itemised quote is provided within 24 hours of a free consultation, with every line item explained and no hidden fees added later.

Do I need a finished manuscript to get started?

No. About 40% of clients come to Australian Books Publisher with just an idea, an outline, or a rough draft. The ghostwriting team can develop the full manuscript from the author's knowledge and direction. If the manuscript is already complete, the process starts with a free assessment to determine exactly what level of editing it needs.

Where is Australian Books Publisher based?

Australian Books Publisher is based in Adelaide, South Australia, at Westpac House, Level 30/91 King William St. The entire process is handled remotely by phone, email, or video call, so authors are supported across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, regional Australia, and internationally.

How long does the publishing process take?

A typical project takes 8 to 16 weeks from manuscript submission to a published book, depending on the scope of editing needed, design complexity, and whether print, eBook, or both formats are required. A specific timeline is given after the free manuscript assessment, once the exact scope of the book's needs is known.

About Australian Books Publisher

Australian Books Publisher is a full-service book publishing company headquartered in Adelaide, South Australia. We work exclusively with Australian authors — from first-time writers to experienced professionals — helping them publish, market, and distribute their books to readers worldwide.

Our in-house team of ghostwriters, editors, illustrators, cover designers, and marketing specialists handle every stage of the publishing journey under one roof. Unlike traditional publishers, we believe authors should retain 100% of their rights, creative control, and royalties — always.

Why Authors Trust Us

We built our model around fixing what frustrates authors about traditional and vanity publishing — opaque contracts, ISBNs registered under someone else's name, and pricing nobody can explain. Here is what that actually looks like in practice:

7+ books published for real Australian authors, across fiction, non-fiction, memoir, and children's genres — with more currently in production
Every ISBN registered in the author's name, never ours — you are always the publisher of record, with permanent control of your own book's listing
Free manuscript assessment before any commitment — we tell you honestly what stage your manuscript is at before quoting you anything
In-house team of editors, cover designers, formatters, and ghostwriters — no outsourcing to unnamed freelancers, no middlemen
Itemised, transparent quotes — every cost explained by service, with nothing bundled into a mystery number

These are the specifics that actually matter when choosing a publishing partner — not a generic list of buzzwords. Ask any publishing service these same five questions before you sign anything.

It was my dream to publish my life story to the world. I had the idea but wasn't able to put my idea and story into words. A friend suggested I should hire a ghostwriter for my book and that was the time when I came across Australian Books Publisher. I placed an order and it took them no more than six weeks to get my order done and delivered. I am glad that I decided to give their service a shot. I'm very happy with the end-result and plan to use them again in the future.
